Dr. Hussein received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from McGill University (2000), and has become a valued part of the Centre's research into energy and the environment. He is currently working on the develpment of a novel microemulsion technique for in-situ preparation of nanoparticle catalysts and sorbents to serve in-situ heavy oil upgrading. Moreover, they are developing a novel anode and cathode nanoparticle catalyst material for solid oxide fuel cells. In the environmental field, they are looking at the removal or organic and ionic contraminants from produced-water, precipitation of heavy metals from wastewaters, and the removal of H2S(g) associated with in-stiu heavy oil upgrading.
