Dr. Brij Maini

Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Schulich School of Engineering,of Calgary Dr. Brij Maini, a professor of chemical and petroleum engineering at the of Calgary, is an expert in flow of complex fluidsin porous media, including flow of emulsions, foams, suspensions and three-phase mixtures. Before joining the Schulich School of Engineering in 1999, Dr. Maini was a senior staff research engineer and group leader for heavy oil research at the Petroleum Recovery Institute with the Alberta Research Council for more than 20 years. He has over 25 years of extensive research experience in heavy oil recovery, and as a principal investigator with the Centre, Dr. Maini is focusing on foamy oil flow in cold heavy oil production, bitumen recovery with Vapex and SAGO ,and multi-phase flow through porous media. He holds a B.Tech. (1969) from the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur, India) and a PhD (1976) from the University of Washington, both in chemical engineering.
