Dr. Gordon Moore

Gordon MooreUniversity Professorship in Air Injection Based Oil Recovery Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary Dr. Gordon Moore is an internationally known expert in the application of in situ combustion as an improved oil-recovery process for light, conventional and heavy oils. He joined the University of Calgary in 1970 and holds a Professorship in Air Injection Based Oil Recovery. In collaboration with Dr. Raj Metha, Dr. Moore supervises research teams that have performed more than 320 in situ combustion tube tests on more than 80 reservoirs in 10 different countries. In their world scale combustion laboratory, the team has developed models for all types of reservoirs, including those for the Athabasca oil sands. Over the course of his career, Dr. Moore has received numerous awards, including the Syncrude/ASTech Innovation in Oil Sands Research Prize in 2006 and the Petroleum Society of ClM Distinguished Service Award in 1995. He has also been recognized for teaching excellence. Dr. Moore obtained a BSc (1965) and a PhD (1971) in chemical engineering from the University of Alberta.
