Dr. Abedi is an expert in the areas of phase behaviour of heavy oil and bitumen, computational fluid dynamics, thermodynamics of complex systems, high performance
computing, hydrogenn production from biomass, mesh generation and flow visualization, VOC emission control and contaminant dispersion modeling. His research involves the use of high performance computing and modeling and he is currently conducting studies on non thermal plasma for the destruction of air pollutants and contaminant dispersion modeling.
In 2003-2004 Dr. Abedi was again the recipient of an award for "Instructional Excellence in Chemical Engineering" by the Department of Engineering, CAU. He received the same award in 2000-2001 and in 2001-2002 was honored with the title and award of "Most Dedicated in Chemical Engineering.
