Dr. Azaiez received his PhD in Matahmatics from the University of Purdue. His research focuses with the Centre include the study of the flow dynamics of complex fluids, including the mechanisms of drag reduction in pipe flows using polymer and fiber
additives, which has an immediate application in the oil industry. As well, they are studying interfacial instabilities of flow in porous media. His research group is also actively studying interfacial instabilities of flow in porous media, another topic with high relevance to the oil industry. These studies include the modeling of the flow of non-newtonian fluids in porous media through numerical and experimental work, and styding the viscous fingering instability at high mobility ratios.
